SEUR begins work on new warehouse in Carmona

SEUR has announced it has begun work on a new warehouse in Carmona near Seville, Spain. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2021. SEUR stated the site will be dedicated to cross-docking deliveries which allow for faster deliveries due to direct transitions between trucks and vans meaning less need for storage.

The company has invested €5.7m in this new facility. It is located on a 17,500 sq m plot with the possibility of future expansion as the initial development is only 3,000 sq m in size. This operation is part of an investment plan of spending €250m by 2025 that SEUR has underway.

SEUR has forecasted the facility will have around 4,000 daily shipments. The warehouse will have four docks for trucks and 50 for vans. The facility will also have ten recharging points for electric vehicles as part of SEUR’s commitment to a low-emission fleet.

It is stated that all types of packages will be managed at the new centre, including those from e-commerce. The e-commerce sector grew 50% in 2020 compared to 2019 in Spain, with it accounting for 45% of SEUR’s revenue last year.

Juan Pérez de Lema, Director of Trawling and Infrastructure at SEUR, said of the work, “This new centre will allow us to optimise our operations in the region and be faster in our deliveries to customers throughout the area. This operation is part of the company’s strategy to expand our infrastructure network and our commitment to improving efficiency in all our processes. To achieve this objective, Andalusia is a key point due to its location and logistical power, where we have always had a very important presence, and, without a doubt, it will be a community where we will continue to invest and generate employment.”
