B2C Europe focuses on business to consumer parcel delivery services and cross-border deliveries. Maersk hopes that the acquisition will strengthen its e-commerce logistics product suite.

The acquisition aims to enable Maersk to offer Europe-wide last mile rates to customers in Europe, North America and China through one simplified interface. Maersk stated that the acquisition of B2C Europe will provide an asset-light delivery product that uses technical integrations to collect parcels at its customers warehouses and pass them on to European carrier networks.

B2C Europe’s services include labelling, pick-ups, sorting parcels, linehaul and movement into the last mile delivery network which consists of over 100 carriers across Europe. This network includes full returns logistics, covering 35 European countries.

Executive Vice President and CEO of Ocean & Logistics Vincent Clerc commented: “With B2C Europe, we are continuing our e-commerce logistics expansion. This year, by adding Visible SCM, HUUB and now B2C Europe to our portfolio, Maersk has laid the foundation to expand our platform and e-commerce skills globally”.

The acquisition has been valued at $86m. Maersk reported that, based on 2021 forecasts, future revenue is estimated at around $140m. Operating profit is estimated at approximately $8m, reflecting a margin of 5.7%.
