DHL Supply Chain has assumed logistics management responsibilities for Avanos Medical’s US distribution network, enabling its transformation into a pure-play medical device company. Avanos Medical, Inc. is a medical technology company that provides healthcare solutions focused on pain management and medical devices.
Avanos began its transformation into a pure-play medical device company in 2018 and partnered with DHL Supply Chain due to its experience in the sector. The partnership has allowed Avanos to achieve greater productivity and warehouse storage utilisation for a wide range of medical devices.
DHL’s solution leveraged 65,000 sq ft of an existing multi-client facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, US, and a new 129,000 sq ft dedicated site in Southaven, Mississippi, US. The new sites meet the quality assurance and regulatory requirements of medical devices to include duly licensed and temperature-controlled storage. Key to Avanos’ 2019 strategy, a compressed and accelerated implementation schedule was necessary to avoid potential conflicts with a parallel global ERP implementation.
