DHL Supply Chain expands pharmaceutical distribution network in the US

DHL Supply Chain will invest $150m to expand its pharmaceutical and medical device distribution network by 40% in the US.

The investment includes costs to invest in new buildings and technology, as well as the fit-out and start-up of new or expanded operations. DHL Supply Chain has planned for nine new sites by the end of 2019, bringing the total number of sites dedicated to compliant pharmaceutical and medical device distribution to 30. DHL Supply Chain is expanding with investments in Indianapolis, Ind., and Raleigh, N.C.; multiple new facilities in key campus markets such as Memphis, Tenn., and South Central, Pa., and with new sites in California and Virginia.

The sites are strategically located within the US and are fully licensed with temperature-controlled space that supports pharmaceutical storage requirements. The sites also allow for packaging and managed transportation for integrated solutions. Its aim is to bring critical healthcare products closer to trade partners and patients.
