DB Schenker signs an MoU with the WCAA

DB Schenker has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Western City and Aerotropolis Authority (WCAA). In signing the MoU, DB Schenker intends to work with the WCAA to promote the development of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, a commercial, logistics, and education hub that is being developed in the vicinity of the new Western Sydney Airport.

DB Schenker’s subsidiary in Australia was established in 1962 and provides international air and sea freight forwarding services, together with integrated logistics solutions. As part of the MoU DB Schenker will support the planning and design of future logistics structures, including a digitally enabled freight and logistics supply system, a cold storage logistics hub, or logistics for the aerospace and defence sectors.

Alexander Doll said: “The Aerotropolis is set to become a pioneering project on our path to building smart cities with integrated transportation concepts and sustainable logistics solutions. It is our pleasure to support the development, which will further strengthen DB Schenker’s engagement in the Asia Pacific region, that has been so successful over the past decades.”

The WCAA was jointly established by the New South Wales (NSW) and Australian Governments to facilitate the design and delivery of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and support the growth of the Western Parkland City.

The Aerotropolis is an 11,000 ha area around the new Western Sydney airport. The New South Wales government will be focusing on developing a technology and aerospace precinct east of the airport centred around a government owned 114 ha land parcel.
