Yamato Group’s Q1 2020 (FY2019) operating profit down 36.3%

Yamato Group has released its financial results for its Q1 2020 (FY2019), ended June 30, 2019. Consolidated revenues for the quarter, including inter-segment revenues, totalled ¥*381,726m, up 0.3% year-on-year (Q1 2018: ¥380,690­­). Yamato’s operating profit, including reconciliation, was down 36.3% to ¥6,100m (Q1 2018: ¥15,679m).

Revenues in the Delivery segment totalled ¥317,652m, up 0.5% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥315,947m), while operating profit totalled ¥9,817m, up 58.7% year-on-year (Q1 2018: ¥6,186m).

In the BIZ Logistics segment, total revenues were ¥37,742m, down 5.8% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥40,046m), while operating profit totalled ¥792m, down 29.2% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥1,118m).

Home Convenience total revenues were down 22.5% year-on-year to ¥9,278m, down (Q1 2019: ¥11,968m) operating profit totalled ¥2,991m, down 0.5% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥3,005m).

The e-Business division recorded revenues of ¥17,261m, up 8.9% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥15,854m), while operating profit totalled ¥1,958m, up 0.4% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥1,951m).

Revenues in the Financial division totalled ¥20,050m, down 2.5% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥20,556m). In this segment, operating profit totalled ¥1,697m down 0.8% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥1,710m).

The Autoworks division revenues were up 1.3% year-on-year and totalled ¥14,363m, (Q1 2019: ¥14,179m), while operating profit totalled ¥1,433m, up 14.7% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥1,249m).

In the Other Division revenues totalled ¥47,578m, up 66% year-on-year (Q1 2019: ¥28,651m) and operating profit were ¥36,712m, up 97.3% year-on-year (Q1 2019 ¥18,607m).

Yamato also reported its parcel delivery volume figures for Q1 2020 in Japan. In its small-parcel delivery service TA-Q-BIN, the company recorded total volume of 419.35m parcels, up 0.3% year-on-year. Yamato’s TA-Q-BIN Compact recorded a 3.6% volume drop to 377.36m, and Nekopos also recorded a 3.6% decrease in volume to 42m parcels.

In its posting service Kuroneko DM-Bin in Japan, the company recorded a volume drop to 273.4 m parcels, down 19.5% year-on-year.
