XPO Logistics has expanded its partnership with Macron, an Italian sporting apparel company. Starting in January 2020, XPO will manage all of Macron’s logistics activities, including e-fulfilment, at Macron’s new global distribution centre near their headquarters in Bologna (Italy).
XPO has been managing Macron’s textile logistics for more than a decade. Under the 2020 contract expansion, Macron will centralise all logistics activities at one facility. XPO will manage its sports accessories in addition to the textile products covered by past contracts.
Macron and XPO have implemented new technologies in order to improve supply chain processes. Innovations include a new packaging system that can triple the parcels processed per hour compared with prior systems, forklifts with lithium batteries, and QR codes for transport documentation to reduce paper waste.
