Wincanton to manage New Look national transport operations

Wincanton

Wincanton has been selected to manage all national transport operations for New Look, one of the UK’s value-fashion omnichannel retailers.

The new, three-year contract, which begins in July 2023, will see Wincanton provide national transport services from the retailer’s national distribution centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme to replenish stock at New Look’s 400 stores situated in towns and cities across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Wincanton will also support New Look in deliveries for click-and-collect services, offering customers the flexibility in how they shop, as well as driving footfall to stores. This channel has seen continued growth at the retailer in recent years, with an increase in Click and Collect as a mix of online order types improving from 17% in early 2021 to 31% thanks to recent investments.

Wincanton was chosen by New Look for its partnership approach, with the hope of offering an efficient operating model and clear roadmap for continuous operational improvement across the next three years. This includes an operating model which will see increased efficiencies through the deployment of Wincanton’s Winsight technology. This technology, unique to Wincanton, looks to help deliver accurate, real-time visibility on the location of New Look’s stock, proof of delivery, and optimisation of delivery routes; reducing waste and carbon emissions, ensuring a sustainable transport offering and improving customer experience as a result.

Rachel Gilbey, MD of General Merchandise at Wincanton, commented: “We are excited to be working with New Look, one of the best-known retailers in the UK. In choosing Wincanton to be its partner New Look will benefit from our unrivalled retail delivery expertise, operational excellence and our industry-leading Winsight technology. This new, three-year contract, is testament to our strong reputation in building long-lasting partnerships with our valued customers, and we look forward to working with New Look in the years to come.”
