Unipart has upgraded its temperature-managed fleet for the NHS contract

Unipart

Unipart Logistics has upgraded its fleet and introduced 25 temperature-managed trailers for dedicated use within the NHS Supply Chain, as part of its £730m logistics contract agreed in September 2018 for a length of 5 years. The contract is the highest value out of 13 national contracts forming the NHS Supply Chain, an initiative aimed at achieving savings and simplifying the NHS goods-buying process.

Unipart’s new upgraded temperature-managed fleet will comprise 25 Gray & Adams Temperature Controlled box trailers including:

  • 26 pallet configurations with extended internal height
  • Thermo King Refrigeration units
  • Live temperature tracking
  • Unipart Logistics livery

Unipart has upgraded its temperature-managed fleet to use it for temperature-controlled collection services from NHS Supply Chain suppliers nationwide, as well as onward delivery to NHS Supply Chain distribution centres, in line with the requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). Trailer temperatures will be recorded and monitored via live tracking from the Unipart Logistics transport consolidation centre, based at Unipart’s Coventry site.

A fleet of about 200 vehicles will be supporting Unipart’s last-mile fleet delivering to NHS trusts in temperature-managed conditions.
