Rhenus Warehousing Solutions leases 70,000 square metres of logistics space at the VGP Park Magdeburg-Sülzetal

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions is continuing to expand its network in Germany by renting approximately 70,000 sqm of warehouse space in Magdeburg-Sülzetal. Customers in the e-commerce, engineering and chemicals sectors will primarily benefit from the additional storage space available at the site operated by the logistics property developer, VGP, from the summer of 2024 onwards.

The international logistics specialist is not only renting its actual warehouse and logistics space at the park, which has approx. 300,000 sqm available overall, but also office, social and technical premises – as well as parking spaces for cars and trucks. “This is enabling us to strengthen our activities in Saxony-Anhalt and expand our portfolio for production, industrial and commercial logistics along the A2 motorway, which connects northern and eastern Germany with the west,” says Sven Weichbrodt, a member of the management team at Rhenus Warehouse Solutions.

Magdeburg is home to the largest inland waterway port in the eastern German federal states and this makes the city one of the most important industrial sites in the region. In addition to international distribution services via BER (Berlin) and LEJ (Leipzig/Halle) airports, the city with its approx. 240,000 residents acts as a central transport hub for further connections to the economic regions of Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig/Halle as well as to Eastern Europe.

Energy is supplied without the need to use any fossil fuels. The roof is also equipped with a solar power unit, which enables in-house green energy generation. About half of the space that Rhenus is leasing will be suitable for products that are extremely hazardous to water supplies (WGK3) so that it will be possible to store chemicals and even dangerous substances safely.

Rhenus is already a tenant at several German parks operated by VGP.
