Rhenus implements supply chain solutions for retailer Skinnydip

Rhenus

Rhenus and Skinnydip have been working together to optimise Skinnydip’s supply chain.

The company is a British brand, launched in 2011 with a mobile phone cover and growing to 16 standalone stores and over 200 stocklists with retailers worldwide. Due to its fast growth, its supply chain was fragmented and spread across two warehousing and fulfilment facilities, with one of the warehouses not having enough storage or capacity to service the market efficiently. Furthermore, as it was operating from two different warehouse management systems, inventory was not only held in two different physical locations but also in two different systems.

As reported by Logistics People Community, in 2019 Skinnydip selected Rhenus to manage its supply chain based on factors including:

  • flexibility;
  • late order cut-off times;
  • location;
  • multi-channel b2c solutions;
  • personalisation; and
  • the Rhenus Online Portal, allowing visibility of inventory to Skinnydip 24/7

Following the move, in Q1 2020, both locations were transferred to Rhenus, resulting in good rates of accuracy for order fulfilment and returns processing operations also during busy periods including Black Friday and Christmas peak period in 2020 according to sources.
