Nippon Express’s Netherlands subsidiary has announced the completion of the construction of a new logistics centre 7km from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The centre is said to offer twice the space of Nippon Express Netherlands’ existing warehouse and is an eco-friendly facility with a 60m x 55m section of its rooftop covered in solar panels. The facility has 9,836 sq m of warehouse space, 19 truck docks, complete CCTV coverage and a back-up generator for its temperature controlled storage spaces, according to Nippon Express.

The location comes equipped with 315 sq m of dedicated temperature-controlled spaces for pharmaceutical products that allow for storage in three temperature ranges – 15°C to 25°C (constant temperature), 2°C to 8°C (refrigerated) and -15°C to -25°C (frozen) – as well as dedicated truck docks for pharmaceutical customers. Two ULD handling systems, capable of processing 20ft pallets, have been introduced for large and heavyweight cargo items, stated the company. Nippon Express stated it will use the facility to increase its efforts in the pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries in the Netherlands, with the facility designed to prioritise those industries.
