Nippon Express becomes first Japanese company to obtain GDP certification in Korea

Nippon Express

On August 23, 2021, Nippon Express Korea, a local subsidiary of Nippon Express, has announced it became the first Japanese logistics company in South Korea to obtain a Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification. The certificate was issued for the short-term pharmaceutical storage services provided by Nippon Express Korea’s Head Office in Seoul and its Incheon International Airport CFS. The subsidiary stated that the certificate is evidence of the organisation’s compliance with GDP standards regarding the proper distribution of pharmaceuticals.

The certification acquired by the subsidiary covers import/export air cargo forwarding and domestic transport service arrangements. The facility is equipped with temperature control functions to maintain three temperature ranges: -15℃ to -25℃ (frozen storage), 2℃ to 8℃ (refrigerated storage) and 15℃ to 25℃ (constant-temperature storage).

South Korea’s pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors have seen remarkable growth in recent years and are both regarded as emerging industries. The country has the world’s second-largest number of biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing organisations and hosts several corporate groups with significant shares in the global biosimilars market. The company therefore expects that the demand for high-quality logistics storage will grow in the future. The subsidiary hopes to utilise its certification and strengthen the Nippon Express Group’s network by improving quality and enhancing services to meet the anticipated demand.
