LATAM Cargo starts construction of a new hub in Guarulhos, Brazil

As part of its PERISHABLE project, LATAM Cargo Brazil has begun the construction of a refrigerated warehouse in Guarulhos, Brazil. This will expand its capacity and ability to offer a more reliable service for the goods transported from Latin America to the world. The new warehouse will increase LATAM Cargo’s current storage capacity of perishable products by 33%.

The new PERISHABLE HUB will have an area of 1,637 sq m, of which 50% (825 sq m) will have cooling chambers. The winery will be divided in two; a cold storage warehouse of 487 sq m at a temperature between 0 and 2°C, and another of 338 sq m at a temperature between 2 and 12°C for storage and repalletisation.

The new refrigeration chambers will allow LATAM Cargo to meet the specific needs of the main perishable products that are exported from the region: salmon, asparagus, mangoes, cherries, berries, southern hake and flowers, each of which requires storage temperatures different.

One of the main advantages of having this new warehouse is the reduction of the exposure time of the cargo, since the repalletisation process is carried out in a temperature-controlled environment. Concentrating all the cargo in one place makes it easier to prepare and transport it to the plane. The time in which the products are outside the temperature-controlled area is to be minimised, thus prolonging their freshness.
