GLP begin construction of logistics park in Czech Republic

GLP has announced the development of a new 37,000 sq m logistics centre in Upper Silesia, Lędziny, Poland.

GLP has announced it has started the construction of a logistics park in the Czech Republic. The GLP Park Brno Holubice logistics park has been given the approval by local authorities to commence development.

According to GLP, the facility will be environmentally friendly, equipped with new technologies, and built in the vicinity of the D1 motorway in the Holubice municipality. The park is scheduled to welcome its first clients in August 2022. GLP stated that the buildings will run with low energy requirements, equipped with technologies for energy and water management and air conditioning, and the work areas will be well lit. The logistics park will also include charging stations for electric vehicles.

The logistics park will offer 70,000 sq m of space suitable for logistics and light manufacturing. Office space and employee facilities will also be available.

GLP reported that the development will deliver a ‘smart’ building that can adapt to the varying needs of different customers. This could include using the building as a showroom, distribution centre, light industrial production, technological research or as a company’s administrative base. GLP hope that the park’s proximity to Brno will make it a sought-after location for companies.

The company stated that the logistics park is both sustainable and environmentally friendly for neighbouring communities. According to GLP, the roofs will be fitted with photovoltaic panels, making a significant contribution to reducing operating costs for the buildings. Additionally, it is hoped that a rainwater harvesting system will be used to save water across the site including through the plumbing and watering greenery.

GLP director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia Jan Palek commented: “As a developer, helping to improve the infrastructure of the surrounding communities is vital. We are helping the village of Holubice to increase its water supply line capacity and we are also involved in the modernisation of the wastewater treatment plant. We are building a bio-corridor of fruit trees, and we plan to cooperate on other projects as well.”
