DSV Panalpina completes first joint shipment

DSV Panalpina

DSV Panalpina has announced that it has completed its first joint shipment using its Charter Network. The shipment is the company’s first as a newly established company following the merger in August earlier this year.

The company’s Aerospace team delivered thrust reverser engine parts from Huntsville, USA to Luxembourg. After, the parts were transported by road to the Airbus’ production plant in Toulouse, France. DSV has been doing business with both the manufacturer of the reversers and the engine producer for more than twenty years.

Since 1990 Panalpina has been the only major freight forwarding company to offer its Charter Network for air freight. According to DSV, this can now act as an in-house carrier for the whole DSV Panalpina network, something which the company claims to be a unique asset. The network uses leased and chartered aircraft to guarantee capacity and is structured to handle express and special shipments. One of the biggest benefits of the network is control. Not only does the company control aircraft on specific routes, but it also designs and oversees processes on the ground as well.
