DPD Netherlands acquires BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport

GeoPost acquires Aramex

DPD Netherlands has announced the acquisition of BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport, two logistics providers specialised in temperature-controlled transport of food and pharmaceuticals. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a rush in demand for the parcel delivery industry. It has produced an unprecedented rise in demand for deliveries of food, pharmaceuticals and healthcare products.

BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport specialise in temperature-controlled transport for major national and international companies in the healthcare, food and laboratory sectors. This requires highly specific knowledge in temperature-controlled transport. From the warehouse in Boxmeer, the transport of pharmaceutical and healthcare products is organised in a safe, temperature-controlled way from a validated environment.

The year 2020 was a year of extremes for parcel delivery firms. The COVID-19 pandemic caused an unprecedented demand for the parcel delivery industry, with nationwide lockdowns, home isolation and preventive measures generating a huge rise in parcel deliveries. The health crisis has meant that trends that had not been expected until 2024 have taken hold much earlier.

DPD Netherlands will encourage rapid growth, allowing BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport to continue business independently. The expansion of services and growth opportunities in the market will give the 130 employees of BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport more opportunities for individual growth and development. For customers of BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport as well as customers of DPD, nothing will change either. They will remain customers of the organisation where they purchase their services.

Paul Bouwmeester, Managing Director of BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport, “This cooperation with DPD will be of huge benefit to us. By working with DPD Netherlands, we will have the opportunity to grow faster, and it also gives us access to a network of larger, international customers, bringing benefits to both our customers and employees.”

By pooling expertise, DPD Netherlands aims to expand its core activities by 2025. This acquisition will also allow DPD Netherlands to enter a market requiring in-depth knowledge, extensive experience and specific conditions.
