CN acquires H&R Transport’s intermodal division in North America

Canadian National (CN) and Kansas City Southern (KCS) has announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement.

Through a subsidiary company, Canadian National (CN) will acquire the intermodal division of H&R Transport Limited, based in Alberta.

“CN’s strategy is to expand our presence in moving consumer goods, and to offer more end-to-end rail supply chain solutions to a wider range of customers,” said JJ Ruest, president and chief executive officer of CN.

David Thiessen, chief executive officer of H&R, added: “We have a longstanding relationship with H&R Transport and we are aware of their continued investments in technology and in their employees.”

The transaction is subject to conditions.
