CMA CGM confirms cyber attack

CMA CGM has confirmed it is dealing with a cyber attack impacting peripheral servers. The company announced the attack on its website yesterday.

In a statement on the company’s website, CMA said: “As soon as the security breach was detected, external access to applications was interrupted to prevent the malware from spreading.”

“Our teams are fully mobilized and access to our information systems is gradually resuming.”

“The CMA CGM network remains available to the Group’s customers for all booking and operation requests.”

“An investigation is underway, conducted by our internal experts and by independent experts.”

CEVA Logistics confirmed that its own sites and systems are operating normally. According to The Loadstar, the websites and e-commerce operations of subsidiaries Mercosul and Containerships were also continuing to function.

The attack on CMA CGM is the second such cyber attack on a major shipping line this year, following a move in April that saw the website and headquarters of MSC go down. Maersk and Cosco have also seen malware attacks in recent years.
