Bolloré Logistics Canada expands its presence in Prince Rupert

Bolloré Logistics

Bolloré Logistics has opened a container freight station (CFS) in Prince Rupert approximately 17 km from Prince Rupert’s container terminal. The CFS consists of a 20,000 sq ft warehouse and 2 ac lay down area used for container destuffing, stuffing and transload services. The CFS team is made up of eight staff, including a combination of equipment operators and freight forwarders.

Bolloré Logistics opened the CFS to provide container destuffing and transloading services for the LNG Canada project in Kitimat, BC, Canada. Most of the containerized cargo required by the LNG Canada project is imported through the Port of Prince Rupert.

Prince Rupert has a full-service port complex. In recent years, annual throughput at the Port of Prince Rupert has approached 30m tons, making it one of the largest volume ports in Canada.

A milestone for the Port of Prince Rupert was the conversion of a break-bulk terminal to a container terminal in 2007. Since that time, the container terminal’s volumes have risen dramatically and surpassed 1m TEUs per annum.

Operated by DP World, Prince Rupert’s container terminal connects markets in Asia and North America by offering weekly container services from most major container lines and providing direct, rail and truck connections to eastern Canada and the U.S. mid-west.

Bolloré Logistics states that the aim is to offer a permanent transload presence at the Port of Prince Rupert, even after the end of the LNG Canada project.
