Amazon to open another fulfilment centre in Florida

Amazon has announced plans for a new fulfilment centre in Deltona, Florida. This is the second announcement of new fulfilment centres in the last few months. This project is being developed by Seefried Industrial Properties.

The new fulfilment centre is planned to be over 1m sq ft and is set to create more than 500 new full-time jobs. The centre will be used to fulfil orders of large items such as; sports equipment, furniture, pet food, and larger household goods.

Amazon has created more than 13,500 full-time jobs in Florida since first launching fulfilment operations in the state in 2013. Currently, Amazon operates facilities in Orlando, Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville, with plans to open another in Auburndale.

“We’re excited to continue our investment in Florida and further expand our presence in the state with this new fulfilment centre in Deltona. Since 2013, Amazon has invested more than $5bn in Florida through local fulfilment centres and cloud infrastructure, research facilities, and compensation to thousands of employees in the state,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s Vice President of Global Customer Fulfilment.
