Amazon announces new Texas fulfilment centre

Amazon has announced plans to open a new fulfilment centre the city of Pflugerville, Texas, United States. This is the second one announced in the last week after it also revealed plans to open a fulfilment centre and delivery station is Arkansas in 2021.

At the new 820,000 sq ft fulfilment centre employees will work alongside Amazon robotics to pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and toys. The site, which is anticipated to open in 2021, will create 1,000 new full-time jobs with industry-leading pay and benefits.

Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than $10.5bn into its local fulfilment centre infrastructure and through compensation to thousands of employees in the state. Amazon’s investments in Texas contributed an additional $9bn into the Texas economy, and using methodology developed by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Amazon estimates its investments in the state have created an additional 32,000+ indirect jobs on top of the company’s direct hires
