Amazon announces new investment in Lodz, Poland, creating over 100 jobs


Amazon has confirmed its plans for a 40,000 sq m fulfilment centre in Lodz, Poland. The company already has a presence in the region, with 700 employees at its site in Pawlikowice, which was launched in the fall of 2019. This new investment follows growing customer demand across Europe and will add up to 100 new jobs to Amazon’s existing workforce in the Lodz region.

“I am glad that soon after launching its first logistics center in our agglomeration, this time Amazon decided to locate its investment directly in the City of Lodz. At this difficult time for all of us, each new investment and jobs created are of particular importance to the city and its inhabitants. We hope that Amazon’s decision will also enable us to implement several joint initiatives in the future, including in particular to expand our existing cooperation on the educational and scientific level”, said Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of the City of Lodz.

Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014, generating over *PLN14bn in investments, which include customer fulfilment infrastructure and research facilities. Amazon has 16,000 employees at its 8 logistics centres in Sady near Poznań, Sosnowiec, Kołbaskowo near Szczecin, two in Bielany Wrocławskie, Pawlikowice near Lodz, Okmiany near Boleslawiec and Gliwice.
