Rhenus Archive Services acquires Z.A.S.

Rhenus

Rhenus Archive Services, a subsidiary of Rhenus Office Systems and the specialist for document and information logistics, acquired 100% of the shares in Z.A.S. Zentral Archiv Service at the turn of the year. As a result, 40 Z.A.S. employees have been working as part of Rhenus since 1 January 2017.

Z.A.S. Zentral Archiv Service is reportedly one of the top ten archiving service providers in Germany. In addition to archiving and digitizing business documents, the company has specialised in preserving laboratory samples and retention samples for the pharmaceutical industry in special, air-conditioned conditions.

Till-Martin Schuldt, Managing Director of Rhenus Archive Services, commented: “We’re not only gaining additional capacity at a top security archiving centre with plenty of technology through Z.A.S, but also expertise for our services in the pharmaceutical sector. In addition to organic growth, the takeover is an expression of our goal of carving out a market-leading position as an archiving service provider and information logistics specialist for the pharmaceutical sector.”

Bernd Mohnsahme, who was previously managing director of Z.A.S and will continue in this position in future too, believes the growth prospects are excellent thanks to the company’s integration in the Rhenus world.

He added: “The merger of the two companies increases the scope and the quality of the products on offer for customers and therefore improves our position over our rivals.”

In addition to the pharmaceutical industry, the services provided by Z.A.S are also used by firms in the housing and financial sector, wholesale and retail, media and publishing, supplies and disposal and chemical industries, tax advisor and legal practices, insolvency administrators, museums and libraries.

12,500 sq m of covered space, among other things, are available at the company headquarters in Neubrandenburg for the long-term and certified storage of archive materials.
