Deutsche Post and Ford team up to deliver e-vehicles

Deutsche Post subsidiary StreetScooter and Ford-Werke have entered into a partnership to manufacture battery-electric delivery vehicles.

The vehicles will be larger than the emission-free StreetScooters already produced by Deutsche Post. With Ford providing the chassis from its Transit van, the vehicles will be fitted with a battery-electric drive train and with a special body construction based on Deutsche Post and DHL Paket specifications.

Production is scheduled to start in July 2017 and the group hopes at least 2,500 vehicles will support the urban delivery traffic of Deutsche Post DHL Group. With this volume, Deutsche Post says the joint project will become the largest manufacturer of battery-electric medium-duty delivery vehicles in Europe.
