DHL eCommerce relocates to a new, larger facility in Missouri

DHL eCommerce Solutions, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, announced it has relocated to a 124,700 sq ft wholly-owned distribution centre in Kansas City to meet growing demand in the region. The approximately $18m investment enables DHL eCommerce Solutions to process more domestic volume and ship throughout the U.S. Midwest region with more than 125 full-time employees.

The new facility is conveniently located five miles from the Kansas City International Airport and two major freeways. The insulated facility is temperature-controlled and combines warehouse, conference, training, and office spaces. The custom-built facility on close to 11 acres was constructed with environmentally friendly features, such as two EV charging stations, LED lighting, HE HVAC, roller shade windows, and clerestory windows with glazing.

The new facility is double the size of DHL eCommerce Solutions’ previous location and can process more than double the number of parcels and packages. The Kansas City distribution centre has two NPI Gen3 Xstream Dual Lane Sliding Shoe Sorters that process 28,000 parcels per hour to different bin destinations such as tubs, carts, and gaylords.

“The Kansas City metropolitan area is rapidly expanding, and it’s the perfect location for DHL eCommerce Solutions to have a larger, fully customized facility that will assist us in growing our footprint in the Midwest,” said Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL eCommerce Solutions, Americas.

Kansas City is part of DHL eCommerce Solutions’ plans to expand throughout the U.S. Since February 2023, the company has moved its Stow, Ohio operation to a nearby new wholly-owned building and its Salt Lake City distribution centre to a larger facility close to its previous location.
