China Southern launches new freighter route


China Southern announced the launch of a Guangzhou-Anchorage-Chicago-Tianjin-Guangzhou cargo route. The maiden flight took off from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport with 96 tons cargo.

The new route is expected to operate twice weekly. It is due to start at 04:00 every Thursday and Sunday from Guangzhou, and is expected to arrive at Chicago at 20:40 on the same day (all in Beijing Time).

Since this new route was opened, China Southern is now running five ChinaAmerica cargo routes in total: Pudong-Anchorage-Chicago-Pudong, Pudong-Los Angeles-Pudong, Pudong-Los Angeles-Tianjin-Pudong, Guangzhou-Anchorage-Los Angeles-Guangzhou and Guangzhou-Anchorage-Chicago-Tianjin-Guangzhou. Among these, the Guangzhou- Los Angeles route was added to four times per week, and from Pudong to Los Angeles as well as from Pudong to Chicago was increased to six times per week respectively.

This new route will bring the number of freighter flights between the two hubs (Guangzhou and Shanghai) and America that the carrier serves up to 18 weekly. China Southern provides same-day and second-day delivery service on China-US freighter routes, so that cargo can be transferred to more than 50 cities around America, as well as value added services such as BUP delivery, full truck delivery, DG and temperature controlled transportation can be offered.
