Markus Sontheimer is to be the new Chief Information Officer on the board of Schenker AG in Essen, Germany, effective January 1, 2016. In this role, he will be responsible the business unit DB Schenker Logistics.
Sontheimer, currently CIO of Group Finance, Deutsche Bank AG, was appointed by the supervisory board of Schenker AG. He has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University in Esslingen. In 1994, he started his career at Daimler AG, where he held various senior positions, both nationally and internationally, in the IT field including CIO of the Financial Services Division. He joined Deutsche Bank AG in 2010.
Markus Sontheimer takes over the position of CIO of Schenker AG from Peter Schumann, who is expected to leave the company at the end of November 2015.
