BW Group, a maritime group serving the oil and gas sector, has been selected by The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to provide LNG regasification services utilizing a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Ain Sokhna, Egypt.
Carsten Mortensen, BW Group’s CEO said, “We are delighted to have been selected as the successful FSRU provider by EGAS and we look forward to supporting Egypt in this project of national importance. The project requires a fast track schedule – five months from project inception to first gas – which represents a record short time for implementation, and made possible because of excellent collaboration between EGAS and BW.”
BW’s FSRU BW Singapore, built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, will be utilized for this project. The FSRU, with capacity of 170,000 cu m and a peak regasification capacity of 750 mmscfd, is expected to be delivered in Ain Sokhna Port by the end of Q3 2015.
