XPO Logistics wins contract win Wavin

XPO Logistics has been awarded a multi-million-pound contract by Wavin to manage its UK transport operations. Wavin is a subsidiary of the Mexichem Organisation, a global manufacturer of plastic pipe systems and solutions, that has multiple manufacturing sites in the UK.

XPO has developed a customised delivery solution for Wavin that manages the company’s UK routes to market as a single, integrated network. Capabilities include end-to-end transport visibility, the agility to respond to changes in volume, and the scalability to adapt to future demand.

XPO will manage the delivery of product to merchants and construction projects from Wavin’s manufacturing sites in Chippenham, Doncaster and Hazelhead. Transport services will also operate from XPO’s site in Motherwell, Scotland. In addition, XPO will deploy its KeyPL solution to manage complex transport flows and utilise technology to assist with load optimisation, cost control and continuous process improvement.

Andrew Crosby, European procurement lead at Wavin, said: “it gives us reassurance that our customers will receive a consistent delivery experience. XPO’s comprehensive capacity within the UK and across Europe offers many potential advantages should we wish to scale up.”
