XPO Logistics to build transportation network for British Gypsum

XPO acquires K+N Contract Logistics portfolio in the UK and raises important questions - here are 5 key takeaways.

XPO Logistics will work with British Gypsum to optimise its UK supply chain with a single transportation network, and will manage the network through its cloud-based platform XPO Connect. British Gypsum is a UK manufacturer of plasters, plasterboard and drylining systems for the construction industry and is part of the Saint-Gobain Group.

XPO will create an integrated transportation network for British Gypsum using a customised delivery model deployed on XPO Connect. Distribution will take place from British Gypsum’s five manufacturing plants and four outbases in the UK. Additionally, XPO will manage all downstream processes, including load securing, yard management and weighbridge operations.

XPO will invest in a new fleet dedicated to the British Gypsum network, using vehicles outfitted with telematics and safety technology. The vehicles will meet the standards for heavy goods transport, as well as the accreditations for road risk management.

Dan Myers, managing director, transport – UK and Ireland, XPO Logistics, said, “We are excited to provide British Gypsum with a transformative, multi-year solution for their supply chain.”
