XPO Logistics recently started operating a new mega-truck route connecting Galicia, Spain and Morocco.

The company has been operating in Morocco since 2011 from sites in Tangier and Kenitra. XPO’s fleet of 15 mega-trucks in Spain are utilized for the company’s customers and for its palletized goods transport network. The trucks, 25.25 meters in length, transport raw materials from Spain to North Africa several times a week, returning with finished garments for retail sale to consumers.

Each XPO mega-truck can transport a maximum load of 60 tonnes, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 20% due to the efficiencies of greater load capacity and fuel savings.

Massimo Marsili, managing director of transport in Spain, Portugal and Morocco for XPO Logistics, said, “We are committed to making our customers’ supply chains more efficient and sustainable by introducing innovative services. XPO is proud to open this new route for mega-truck service to and from Morocco, where we are one of the largest carriers, making approximately 18,000 crossings a year through the Strait of Gibraltar.”
