XPO expands last mile capabilities in Spain

XPO Logistics has further expanded its service in Spain with the opening of two sites in the Port of Seville totalling almost 10,000 sq m. Both facilities are located in ZAL area (Zona de Actividades Logísticas del Puerto). One of the facilities in the Andalusian capital serves as XPO’s inaugural last mile hub in Spain, and the other supports the company’s less-than-truckload (LTL) distribution and full truckload services. XPO has additional expansions of its last mile network underway in other provinces in Andalusia, including the opening of a hub in Malaga dedicated solely to last mile activities.

The 40 cross-docks at the Seville site will be used to support the company’s growing last mile service, as well as its LTL pallet network in Spain and Portugal.

Luis Gomez, Managing Director of Transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “We are proud to pioneer the launch of last mile services for heavy goods in Spain. This is a growing area of opportunity for e-commerce companies and retailers. We look forward to using our extensive last mile expertise to help our customers in Spain build consumer loyalty through a superior in-home experience.”

XPO operates in all of the Andalusian provinces with a total of 10 owned and partner sites, including a centre in the Logistics Activities Area of Seville (ZAL). The company serves more than 500 customers of diverse sizes and sectors in the region. XPO’s LTL network in Spain includes 70 sites and transports more than 4 million pallets per year.
