Walmart launches Walmart Fulfillment Services

Walmart has launched Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), a service where select sellers can leverage the company’s supply chain capabilities such as storing, picking, packing and shipping items, handling of returns and customer service.

According to Walmart, WFS is designed to help sellers generate more profitable sales of their inventory at scale, while growing their business on the marketplace. Walmart added that companies benefit from a larger assortment of brands and products along with fast shipping, easy returns and dedicated customer service.

Amongst organisations that have helped build WFS are Pattern and Netrush. According to George Hatch, director of marketplaces for Pattern, with WFS its company generated one of the best sales months on Walmart.com. This had created incentives for Pattern’s brand partners to begin thinking about expanding to Walmart’s website. Hatch also looked forward to seeing future tools and features that would be released to attract more customers and scale up.

Raj Sapru, chief operating officer for Netrush, was satisfied that WFS continued to drive traffic to the service, also on the back of a cross-functional team able to address companies’ needs. According to Sapru, consumers need engagement, therefore data and insight would be a critical factor for addressing new, loyal and changing consumers.
