Syngenta, an agricultural chemical company, has announced a contract with Damco to provide logistics support (4PL) for its global sea and airfreight shipments. The agreement builds on Damco’s existing relationship with Syngenta and is to be based on four pillars covering the sourcing, execution, monitoring and analysing of logistics services while also providing end-to-end visibility.
Marion Matthewman, Head Global Logistics at Syngenta, said, “We are building an industry-leading supply chain solution,” adding “and as our global sea and airfreight 4PL, Damco will be a key contributor to that endeavour. They have demonstrated their ability to become a strong business partner for Syngenta, and this new agreement will be a key enabler to help deliver our business objectives”
Anthony Elwine, Damco’s Global Head for the Chemical Vertical, said of the announcement, “Syngenta has been a key customer for Damco for many years.” He added, “They know from experience that we are familiar with the specific requirements and regulations that apply to logistics for the chemical industry, where most of the cargo is classified as ‘dangerous goods’. Combining that specific expertise with our 4PL capability created a perfect match with Syngenta’s requirements.”
