Raben Germany establishes Raben Sea & Air GmbH

Raben Group

Raben Trans European Germany GmbH established a new subsidiary, Raben Sea & Air GmbH, in June 2020. The European logistics service provider is to use its know-how in intermodal transport and expand its range of services in sea and airfreight. Thus, Raben Group puts a further focus on the expansion of its activities parallel to the existing European network. In addition to its headquarters situated directly at the Port of Hamburg and a branch office near Frankfurt Airport, it will also have a location at Leipzig Freight Airport close to the A14 motorway.

The new company combines the cost advantages of sea freight with the fast transit times of air freight: Via container ship from Asia to the Middle East, from Vancouver and Los Angeles via air to Europe. From the Port of Hamburg or airports, Raben Group then takes over and organises upstream and downstream transport by rail, barge or truck. With the help of the “Estimated Time of Arrival” programme, customers in the Raben network can track the progress of their consignments in real-time.

Regardless of the size and transport volume of the customer´s company, FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than container load) can be booked. Raben Sea & Air takes care of the complete organisation of both export and import goods. Exports are transported to the port or airport with the group’s own fleet of trucks, imports are collected from there. In this way, everything remains in one hand and customers have complete transparency over the transport route. “We offer fast and efficient handling. Goods from the Far East reach Europe within two days of departure,” said, Managing Director, Hülsmann. The logistics service provider collects export shipments from any location in Europe and carries out customs clearance close to the customer, at local Raben branches in Poland and the airports in Warsaw, Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Milan and Amsterdam. The door-to-door service includes different types of shipments: Express, Standard and Economy. “Thanks to our comprehensive distribution network, we can organise a quick pick-up of the consignment from the customer’s location and then transport it onward,” said Hülsmann. Temperature-controlled transports are just as possible as dangerous goods transports and packaging following IATA-DGR regulations.

Customers of Raben Group also benefit from Secure Cargo service. As a Regulated Agent, the European logistics service provider guarantees the safe transport of air freight shipments by land. Customers save time and costs as the consignments do not undergo extra checks. “We have a special transport network as part of the Secure Supply Chain, including all apron approvals,” said, Hülsmann.

The subsidiary Raben Sea & Air was founded in the course of the Fenthol & Sandtmann takeover in June this year. According to the agreement Raben Group took over all Fenthols locations in Hamburg, Leipzig, Dresden and Erlensee near Frankfurt am Main as well as 460 employees.
