Poste Italiane strengthens collaboration with Amazon

Poste Italiane has strengthened its partnership with Amazon and introduced new and faster delivery services to respond to the needs of online shoppers in Italy. The group has introduced a same-day delivery service to main Italian cities, including Bari, Bologna, Firenze, Milano, Napoli, Padova, Roma, Torino, Verona with extended deliveries in the afternoon. Poste also expanded the areas where it carries out Saturday or 24-hour deliveries, including Sicily and Sardinia through new air connections.

In line with Poste’s corporate strategic plan ‘Deliver 2022’, the partnership with Amazon enhances the flexibility of the ‘joint delivery’ shipping model introduced by the Italian group in April 2018. The model includes weekend and afternoon deliveries as well as 27,000 postmen, SDA Express Courier and Poste’s own air fleet MistralAir. Amazon purchases can also be collected from shops affiliated to the “Punto Poste” network.

Strengthening the partnership with Amazon is also part of Poste’s strategy to achieve growth through e-commerce, on the back of technological investments, alliances with strategic partners, and services tailored to the needs of e-shoppers and e-tailers. As part of this strategy, Poste Italiane is also planning to extend the network of ‘Punto Poste’ to 3,000 shops, 350 automatic lockers, and 12,000 post offices, where people can have their post delivered, by the end of June.

In 2018, the group delivered about 127m parcels, with 12.6% year-on-year growth, and B2C business recording a 27% year-on-year growth.
