Pickup installs smart lockers at train stations

Pickup, a subsidiary of La Poste Groupe, has won the tender launched by the Paris transport authority (RATP) to roll out 50 smart lockers in 45 underground and RER regional train stations in the Paris region, by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

The Pickup service RATP includes:

  • 20 smart lockers already installed in 15 stations and 5 railway stations in the Paris region
  • 50 lockers installed in 45 railway stations by the end of the first quarter of 2022

Boosted by the health crisis, sales of e-commerce products made an unprecedented leap of +32% in 2020, reflecting a profound transformation in consumer habits.

In response to these new practices, La Poste Groupe has teamed up with RATP to offer travellers using the Île-de-France Mobilités network a new Pickup locker service to make it easier to manage their parcels. With this, travellers can independently collect their Colissimo and Chronopost parcels ordered. To guarantee security for orders in these busy locations, lockers can only be opened by a unique code, which is only sent to the recipient of the parcel.

A subsidiary of La Poste Groupe and DPDgroup, Pickup has 16,000 pickup points and 500 lockers. Deliveries to Pickup points are made daily by transport operators Colissimo, Chronopost and DPD France.

The Pickup delivery service is proposed by online retailers, including: Vinted, Veepee, Showroomprivé, Sarenza, CDiscount, Zalando, Amazon, Orange, Nespresso, i.run, Sephora, Mango, Decathlon and many more.

Pickup is developing a range of solutions to respond to the challenges of urban logistics and “last-mile delivery”, notably in partnership with the retail and mass distribution sectors.

Through the various DPDgroup entities, Le Groupe La Poste’s international and leading European parcel delivery network, the Pickup network is also present in 28 countries around the world, with more than 58,000 points.

Pickup has its headquarters in the Paris region and employs 350 people.
