OOCL Logistics expands warehouse capabilities in Indonesia

OOCL has opened a new warehouse in Cakung, north of Jakarta. It is capable of distributing goods throughout the city within a two to three-hour window. Near to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Tanjung Priok Sea Port, Cakung was chosen for its accessibility to various provinces. In addition to its Jakarta warehouse, OOCL also has 39,000 sq m of warehousing space serving Belawan, Cikarang, Semarang and Surabaya.

These facilities provide a range of warehousing services, including:

• Cross-docking and Trans-loading
• Kitting
• Lot / Date Code Tracking
• Parcel Management
• Pick & Pack
• Pre-pricing, Re-labelling, Ticketing / Tagging
• Sorting / Sequencing
• Sub / Light Assembly
• Quality Inspection
• Salvage Disposal Reporting & In-plant Operation

OOCL’s expansion in Indonesia is down to its expected growth prospects. It hopes to take advantage of the Indonesian government’s plans to transform the country into a major logistics hub and also expects to see rising consumer-driven e-commerce demand for its services. Jakarta is the largest city in Indonesia and reportedly contributes around 40% of the revenue in Indonesia’s warehousing market.

The new warehouse is fitted with OOCL Logistics’ proprietary Warehouse Management System (WMS), which monitors and controls operational processes and end-to-end activities across its warehouse network. Customers and supply chain partners are provided with accurate and timely information to inform decision-making.
