New DACHSER warehouse in Germany to meet high demand

DACHSER has opened a new warehouse location in Langenhagen near Hannover. The facility has a total floor space of 11,800 sq m. Starting this summer, DACHSER will offer its industrial customers a wide range of warehouse and transport services at this location. The unveiling follows a recent new office in Lisbon.

Half the warehouse’s 9,500 sq m can be used for block stacking. The other half of the hall provides racks for 8,700 pallets. There are eleven docking gates for loading and unloading trucks. In addition, there are two docking gates for vans and two level-access gates for loading and unloading bulky goods. The hall also features some 800 sq m of office space. A mezzanine in the front part of the warehouse offers another 1,500 sq m of logistics space. This is where value-added services such as finishing, labeling, and individual order picking are carried out.

Located near the airport, close to DACHSER’s Hannover logistics centre, the new warehouse location is part of an industrial park called Alpha Industrial Gewerbepark Langenhagen.

The new facility functions as a multi-user warehouse. It will be used to store goods from various new and existing industrial customers. This includes the storage of hazardous materials, so 1,350 pallet spaces have been fitted with in-rack sprinkler systems. A customs warehouse license for temporary storage allows for additional flexibility at the location.

On nearby Kemptener Strasse, close to the airport, DACHSER has been running its Hannover logistics centre for over twenty years. The centre handles industrial and commercial goods (European Logistics), food (Food Logistics), and air and sea fright (Air and Sea Logistics). In total, DACHSER currently employs some 500 people in Langenhagen.

The industrial park in Langenhagen, including the new warehouse, was created by nationwide operating real estate investor and project developer Alpha Industrial and meets a range of sustainability criteria. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a great number of additional apertures provide more natural light. Add to that green roofs, LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle racks with a photovoltaic roof, a fountain for irrigating the green roofs and other green spaces, and a meadow orchard with native species.
