MSC has announced it is enhancing its transpacific US east coast network, as their customers needs and demands continue to evolve.

As such, it is launching a new weekly service, the Palmetto, from Asia to the US east coast. The new service will be calling Vietnam and Yantian with direct connections, and transit times, to the US south Atlantic ports of Savannah and Charleston, as well as New York. The rotation will be operated through Panama Canal on the way to the US.

This new service is said to allow MSC to improve the distribution of the cargo flows in its existing network and to improve the schedule reliability for its customers, among all service strings on the trade.

MSC expects to launch this new service from Asia during May, subject to compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Full details of deployment, starting date, rotation, and transit times will be communicated in due course and are not yet published.
