Since the beginning of April 2022, Kassel residents have been able to send and receive their parcels or simply return shipments at the Wilhi Kiosk in Wilhelmshöher Allee. With the new ParcelShop, Hermes is increasing the number of acceptance and dispatch points in the Hessian city to 58. In addition to general advantages such as longer opening hours, customer-oriented service on site or ParcelShop-to-ParcelShop shipping, parcel processing via a Hermes ParcelShop also saves an average of 25% CO2 per shipment.

Many shops are open until 8 p.m. or even beyond, as they are integrated into facilities for basic services, for example – in the city of Kassel, 30 shops fall under this category. Some petrol stations are even open around the clock for Hermes customers, there are kiosks, petrol stations, dry cleaners and tailor shops that act as parcel shops and can help capture new customer groups. On average, the Kassel parcel shops are open for almost 70 hours per week.

Hermes operates more than 16,000 ParcelShops throughout Germany and intends to continuously increase this number. “We feel that our customers are increasingly perceiving the shop as an alternative to doorstep delivery. Especially people who are not at home during the day can usually use the ParcelShop conveniently on the way to work for parcel dispatch and reception or return their shipments,” says David Venticinque, Head of POS Management at Hermes Germany.
