Hermes Germany expects 35m shipments in three weeks

Hermes Germany expects to move almost a third of its Q4 volumes over three weeks of peak season. The company is expecting to ship 35m parcels from 23rd November to 14th December. This coincides with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday holidays.

In preparation for the peak season, Hermes has among other things, increased its sorting capacities, increased staff and vehicle fleet and advanced digital solutions for the last mile in order to cope with the enormous quantities of parcels and parcels.

According to Marco Schlüter, Chief Operations Officer of Hermes Germany, “Well over 90% of all shipments have so far been successfully delivered the next day in the first delivery attempt. With this in mind, we see ourselves well prepared for the days of action. We assume that in Black Friday week and around Cyber ​​Monday alone we will move 40% more shipments than last year.”

Hermes expects ParcelShops, of which it has a national network of over 16,000, to be useful this year. In the 2019 peak season, almost 19% more shipments were delivered to ParcelShops in the ten largest cities in Germany than in the previous year.
