GEODIS has announced it has been awarded a contract with American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) for its strategic operations and omnichannel growth in Japan. The contract comes amidst explosive growth of opportunities on e-commerce platforms around the world.

GEODIS will support the retailer’s distribution centre. According to economists at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, global e-commerce growth has seen a dramatic rise across retail sales fuelled by COVID-19, with a jump from 16% to 19% in 2020.

Managing Director of GEODIS North Asia Sub-Region Chris Cahill commented: “Retail brands are reaching their customers in unprecedented fashion as they shop for their favourite items anytime and anywhere, and GEODIS is proud to be the appointed logistics provider to deliver AEO products into the hands of customers in the shortest amount of time possible no matter where they reside in Japan.”

Over the years, AEO has maintained a closeness to its Japan customer base, now enhanced by the presence of its distribution centre run by GEODIS, which hopes to cut down lengthy delivery times through a centralized distribution model from a single location to ensure customers have the best experience.

AEO and GEODIS anticipate the eventual expansion of the brand to other markets in Asia and beyond in the coming months.
