GEFCO and ArtiShock develop Augmented Reality application for cool chain packaging solutions

GEFCO has transported 500 tonnes of automotive spare parts from Wuhan, China to France by securing one of the first block trains to travel from the city.

GEFCO has announced the development of its new Augmented Reality application for cool chain packaging solutions. Referred to as “GEFCO Enterprise AR”, the new solution, will be utilised by the company in its Freight Forwarding division to increase quality control and boost productivity in the cold chain packing process.

GEFCO Enterprise AR is utilized through the Microsoft HoloLens headset and enables GEFCO’s warehouse employees to interact with spatial digital information, such as user manuals and work protocols. The application is custom-designed to enhance quality control and save time in the packaging process, particularly for critical medicines.

Karin van de Brekel, Global Lead Life Sciences & Healthcare for the GEFCO Freight Forwarding division, said: “The packaging process is vital for GEFCO’s Freight Forwarding division, especially for the critical medicines that we distribute all over the world to our customers by air. This requires special packaging with instructions that must be followed stringently.”
