DSV and Clarks open first facility on mainland Europe

DSV will operate Clarks’ first facility on Mainland Europe. The 10,000 sq m facility at Krefeld, Germany is strategically located to Clarks’, a British shoe manufacturer, main geographic markets.

Krefeld, located in Germany, is close to three international airports and has motorway access to The Netherlands, Belgium and France. All three of DSV’s divisions operate out of the Krefeld facility, enabling DSV’s transport and logistics services to support the supply chains of DSV’s customers.

The distribution centre becomes fully operational to support customer orders from across Europe for Spring-Summer 2020 and will be serving traditional retail, wholesale as well as online channels. In an attempt to generate greater speed and flexibility of service to the region, the distribution centre aims to support Clarks’ growth strategy in Europe.

Ben Fletcher, President of the Europe region for Clarks explains: “This is very positive news for Clarks. Our inventory has to be geographically closer to our focus markets on the mainland if we are to compete on delivery lead times. And of course, our delivery service proposition needs to come at a price that is cost-effective for consumers. The new European distribution centre will be a key enabler to unlocking growth across our digital and wholesale channels.”
