Dimerco launches dedicated ocean freight team in Singapore

Dimerco has launched a dedicated ocean freight service team in Singapore. Diversified Freight System (Singapore) Pte. Ltd is part of Dimerco’s strategy to strengthen the company’s position in the ASEAN region.

According to CEO, Edward Lin, Dimerco’s expansion in South East Asia has been driven by the booming market, particularly in light of the current US-China Trade war. The continued uncertainty is leading manufacturers in China to consider moving to alternative locations such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. Dimerco has chosen Singapore as it acts as an excellent regional logistics hub for South East Asia. In establishing its dedicated services in Singapore, Dimerco is looking to capitalize on this situation and offer wider ocean freight and logistics capabilities to customers.

Dimerco has also unveiled its new 14,000 sq ft bonded Warehouse, offering competitive cost storage, with 1,200 temperature-controlled pallet spaces and 4 loading bays. Strategically located at the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore, part of the Free Trade Zone with easy access to the airport, sea port and cross-border trucking, the new warehouse facilitates transshipments on the same or on multi-modal transportation as well as LCL freight consolidation.

Commenting on the new developments in Singapore, Dimerco CEO Edward Lin said, “It is almost 40 years since we commenced operations in Singapore and our business in the region has continued to grow strongly. We are pleased to announce the opening of Diversified Freight System (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and bring online a new bonded warehouse facility that enables our customers to take advantage of Duty and Tax exemption opportunities with us, as well as 24 hour customs clearance. Dimerco now has 38 owned offices across South East Asia, with our service team enhanced close to the border for road freight from and to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and way up into China. We foresee a rising trade flow between ASEAN countries and China; we have been providing cross-border road freight services covering major hubs across the region in addition to air and ocean freight services, which we are now looking to expand.”
