DHL to complete new Paris hub by October 2021


DHL Express has announced it is investing €170m in its new hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, marking the company’s largest investment in France since commencing operations in the country in 1976, according to reports from CAPA.

Once commissioned in October 2021, the company aims for the facility to have the capacity to process 38,000 packages per hour, more than 15 times greater than DHL’s existing facility. Construction of the 34,000 sq m operating area commenced on a 91,000 sq m site in March 2020.

DHL Express forecasts continued growth in express transport in France of around 8% p/a for the period 2021 to 2025. DHL parcel volumes in France were reported to have increased 8% year-on-year in 2019 and the company expects growth of around 5% to more than 41m parcels in 2020. DHL also holds a 37% share of the French international express transport market.
