DB Schenker develops a no-touch signature capture feature for deliveries

DB Schenker and Lufthansa Cargo have launched a regular CO2-neutral freight connection from Europe to China.

DB Schenker has announced that it has developed a no-touch signature capture feature to enable safe documentation of deliveries while parties involved maintain the required distance.

The delivery agent shows the recipient a digital QR code that the recipient can scan with a smartphone from a distance of up to three meters. This procedure identifies the smartphone user as the recipient of the consignment, after which DB Schenker’s proof of delivery (POD) website opens on the phone.

According to DB Schenker, the solution for contactless POD is currently being used by big logistics service providers in several European Countries such as Spain, Austria, Finland, Portugal and Sweden. It added that to date, it is already available in 12 languages and will soon be used throughout Europe.

Christian Drenthen, Member of the Management Board for Land Transport at DB Schenker said: “The solution makes it possible to maintain a safe distance during deliveries, and the use of a digital signature furthermore guarantees comprehensive documentation of all merchandise and consignment handovers.”
