CEVA Logistics first to receive new IATA CEIV Lithium Battery certification

CEVA Logistics

CEVA Logistics has announced it is the world’s first company to receive the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) new CEIV Lithium Battery certification after teaming with IATA to support the development of the new certification program. CEVA’s Amsterdam and Hong Kong air freight stations are now CEIV certified in the handling of lithium batteries.

The certification confirms each facility’s ability to properly handle and store lithium batteries. Additionally, the certification affirms that on-site employees have undertaken the necessary training and hold the required expertise to handle and store the batteries.

According to CEVA, the company has significant experience in transporting all types and sizes of batteries for customers in automotive, technology, healthcare, industrial and consumer & retail industries. COO of air freight Peter Penseel commented: “Our experience in transporting a wide range of batteries made us an ideal partner with IATA in piloting their new CEIV certification”.

The company hopes that the new CEIV certification will allow CEVA to demonstrate its regulatory and compliance expertise in transporting potentially dangerous goods through its CEVA Batteries Solutions. According to CEVA, the certification will boost its air freight credentials for transporting lithium batteries and will support the company in providing tailored, end-to-end global and local logistics services all throughout the battery lifecycle.

CEVA hopes to extend its IATA CEIV certification beyond Amsterdam and Hong Kong. The company reported that additional certified locations can soon be expected in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
